Inclusion criteria:

1. 18 years or older 
2. Ischemic stroke as proven on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) obtained in accord with standard of care clinical practice  
3. Up to 5 days after stroke onset or time last known well 
4. NIHSS>3 
5. Able to participate in administered tests  

Exclusion criteria:

1. Any degree of receptive aphasia* 
2. Moderate or severe expressive aphasia*
3. Diagnosis of dementia or MCI prior to index event*
4. History of prior stroke with residual impairment*
5. Pregnancy
